Twitter Has 32 Million Users Worldwide

Wall Street Journal reports that 32 Million worldwide have a Twitter account and this number is growing (see figure; please note that ‘unique visitors’ means users in this case). Twitter does not make money, because they don’t have a business model yet. Instead their focus is on managing the growth of users and on retaining them, which at this moment is a so-called challenge: Nielsen reports that 60% of the people that sign up don’t return to the site the following month.

I am trying to find out how many people in the Netherlands use Twitter. I doubt it will become a mass-market medium, but I believe that Twitter offers ample opportunities to engage with customers.
